This team is just awful right now. What odds could you have gotten in the pre-season that the Caps own 1st round pick would be a higher selection than the one they got from the Avs in the Varlamov trade ? I had been holding out hope that a potential return of Backstrom might make the Caps dangerous for a late season/playoff run, but the problems appear to be a lot deeper than the absence of the # 1 center.
